Hebei continues to cut capacity

Hebei province, China’s largest steelmaking province by output, is slashing its crude steel production capacity by 5Mt this year.

The province also plans to eliminate 6Mt of cement capacity, 3 million weight cases of flat glass capacity and decrease coal consumption by 5Mt, according to Zhang Qingwei, provincial governor of Hebei.

Last year, Hebei province slashed 15Mt of iron capacity and 15Mt of steel capacity.
